Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-04-26

Welcome to VidSum (“VidSum,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), available at vidsum.ai. VidSum provides AI-generated summaries, transcripts, chat, and highlight segments for YouTube videos through our website, browser extension, and iOS app. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of VidSum.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using VidSum, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms or the Privacy Policy, do not use VidSum. Your continued use of the service confirms your acceptance of any updates to these Terms.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use VidSum. If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you must be at least 16 years old, or have verifiable consent from a parent or legal guardian. By using VidSum, you represent and warrant that you meet these age requirements and that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

You also agree to comply with all applicable laws and with the terms of service of Google and YouTube while using VidSum.

3. Account

VidSum requires sign-in via Google using Supabase Auth, including the youtube.readonly scope. When you create an account, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and current information.
  • Be solely responsible for the security of the Google account you use to sign in.
  • Not share your VidSum access, credentials, or session tokens with any other person.
  • Notify us promptly if you suspect any unauthorized use of your account.

4. License to Use

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, VidSum grants you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to access and use VidSum for your personal, non-commercial use. Commercial use is permitted only if you are on a paid plan that explicitly allows it, and only within the scope of that plan. All rights not expressly granted to you are reserved by VidSum.

5. YouTube and Google Compliance

VidSum is built on top of the YouTube Data API v3. By using VidSum, you acknowledge and agree that you are also bound by the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.

You must not use VidSum in any way that violates the YouTube Terms of Service, the Google Privacy Policy, or YouTube’s API Services Developer Policies. You may revoke VidSum’s access to your Google data at any time via the Google security settings.

6. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

VidSum’s outputs — including summaries, transcripts, chat answers, and highlight segments — are produced by third-party AI models (including models served via fal.ai). These outputs are generated automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, outdated, fabricated (“hallucinated”), or otherwise misrepresent the underlying video.

Do not rely on VidSum output for any decision that has financial, legal, medical, safety, or other consequential implications without independently verifying the original video and consulting qualified professionals. VidSum is provided as a productivity aid, not as a source of truth. VidSum is not liable for any actions taken or not taken based on its AI output, and you accept full responsibility for how you use that output.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to, and not to permit any third party to:

  • Scrape, harvest, redistribute, or resell YouTube data accessed through VidSum.
  • Use VidSum to generate, distribute, or store unlawful, abusive, harassing, defamatory, infringing, or otherwise objectionable content.
  • Attempt to bypass, circumvent, or manipulate VidSum’s quota, credits, billing, or rate-limiting systems.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code or underlying models of VidSum, except to the limited extent permitted by applicable law.
  • Use VidSum, its outputs, or data accessed through it to train, fine-tune, or evaluate competing AI models or services.
  • Interfere with or disrupt VidSum’s infrastructure, security, or availability for other users.

8. Paid Plans, Credits, and Billing

VidSum offers free and paid tiers. Paid plans and credit purchases are processed through Stripe; by purchasing, you also agree to Stripe’s applicable terms.

  • Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing cycle until you cancel.
  • Credits and quota allocations are non-transferable and, except where required by law, non-refundable.
  • Pricing, plan features, and credit allocations may change. We will give reasonable advance notice (e.g., via email or in-app) before changes affect your existing subscription.
  • You are responsible for all taxes and fees associated with your use of paid plans, except those based on VidSum’s net income.

9. Refunds and Cancellations

You may cancel your subscription at any time from your VidSum account settings. Cancellation stops future renewals; access to paid features generally remains until the end of the current billing period. Used credits are not refundable except where required by applicable law.

If you are a consumer in the European Union or another jurisdiction that grants a statutory right of withdrawal (typically 14 days from purchase), you may exercise that right in accordance with local law. To request a refund or exercise a withdrawal right, email [email protected]. Note that, as permitted by law, the right of withdrawal may not apply once you have started consuming digital content (e.g., used credits) with your express consent.

10. Intellectual Property

VidSum, including its software, design, logos, branding, and the VidSum name, is owned by VidSum and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks or branding.

You retain ownership of any content you provide as input (for example, links, prompts, or uploads). You grant VidSum a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, process, and otherwise use that input solely to operate, secure, and improve VidSum and to provide the service to you.

AI-generated outputs derived from your inputs are licensed back to you for your personal, lawful use, subject to these Terms, third-party rights in the underlying video content, and applicable law. VidSum makes no warranty that its outputs are non-infringing or original.

11. Termination

VidSum may suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, applicable law, or the YouTube or Google policies; or if continued provision of the service would expose VidSum or its users to material risk.

You may stop using VidSum and delete your account at any time from your in-app account settings, or by emailing [email protected]. Upon termination, your license to use VidSum ends immediately; sections that by their nature should survive (including IP, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law) will remain in effect.

12. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

VidSum is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, reliability, or uninterrupted operation. We do not warrant that VidSum will be error-free, secure, or that AI outputs will be accurate or complete.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, VidSum and its officers, employees, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenues, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of VidSum, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

VidSum’s total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the service will not exceed the greater of (a) one hundred US dollars (US $100), or (b) the total fees you paid to VidSum during the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to liability. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so portions of this section may not apply to you.

13. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless VidSum and its officers, employees, and affiliates from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your misuse of VidSum; (b) your violation of these Terms or applicable law; (c) your violation of any third-party right, including the YouTube Terms of Service, the Google Privacy Policy, or any intellectual property right; or (d) any content you submit to VidSum.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will provide reasonable notice, for example by posting the updated Terms here with a new “Last updated” date, and where appropriate by emailing you or showing an in-app notice. Your continued use of VidSum after the changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using VidSum.

15. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of [Jurisdiction], without regard to its conflict of laws principles. You and VidSum agree that the courts located in [Jurisdiction] will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of VidSum, except that either party may seek injunctive or equitable relief in any competent court. Nothing in this section deprives you of any mandatory consumer protections available to you under the law of your country of residence.
